Triple-glazed Insulating Glass Unit features three silver layers within the Low-E coating. The coating typically consists of 13–17 layers in total, making this a high-performance product in the Low-E glass range. Its main advantage is the combination of high visible light transmission and low solar heat gain. This allows the glass to provide good daylighting while helping control heat entering the building. Visible light transmittance can remain above 60%, while the SHGC value is approximately 0.25. The light-to-solar gain ratio is typically 2.0–2.3. In summer, it helps reduce solar heat gain through large west-facing windows and can significantly reduce cooling loads. It can also help reduce fading of furniture and interior finishes caused by sunlight. At a similar level of visible light transmission, it can provide 25%–30% greater cooling energy savings than double-silver Low-E glass. The outside reflectance is only 10%–14%, which helps reduce exterior glare and reflection. In winter, its far-infrared reflectance exceeds 95%, helping reduce heat loss from the building interior. A K-value of ≤1.2 provides a high level of thermal insulation.
