Core Chemical Composition
Main components: Silicon dioxide (SiO₂), sodium oxide (Na₂O), and calcium oxide (CaO); overall, it belongs to the silicate material system.
Production raw materials: Identical to those of ordinary glass; produced through the high-temperature melting and reaction of soda ash, limestone, and quartz.
Material Classification
In terms of material category, tempered glass is classified as an inorganic silicate material; it is not a polymer organic material, composite material, or alloy.
Standard tempered glass used in construction and automotive applications utilizes soda-lime silicate glass as its base material; the surface stress structure is altered solely through physical or chemical processes, while the fundamental material composition remains unchanged.
Material Differences in Special Types
Chemically tempered glass: The base material remains ordinary silicate glass; compressive stress is generated on the surface solely through ion exchange in molten alkali salts, leaving the fundamental material composition unchanged.
Tempered borosilicate glass: A type of specialty tempered glass; its material composition centers on silicon dioxide, boron oxide, and sodium oxide, resulting in an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion and superior high-temperature resistance.
