Pre-installation Preparations
Product Verification: Inspect the glass for appearance defects; ensure there are no cracks or delamination, and that any edge chipping (length/width) does not exceed the glass thickness. Defects such as bubbles or impurities in the interlayer must meet national standards; prioritize compliant products bearing the CCC certification.
Storage and Protection: Store uninstalled glass vertically in a dry, well-ventilated indoor area, avoiding high-temperature exposure, high humidity, and rain. During transport, keep wooden crates upright (do not lay flat or tilt) and implement measures to prevent rain damage and impacts.
Pre-installation Confirmation: Laminated glass cannot be cut on-site; it must be custom-ordered to actual dimensions beforehand. On-site cutting is prohibited as it compromises the structural integrity.
Installation and Construction Essentials
Edge Protection: Protect the glass edges throughout the process to prevent defects such as micro-cracks, jagged edges, or broken corners, and to stop water from seeping into the interlayer later, which could cause performance failure.
Gasket Installation: Properly install and tightly fit elastic gaskets at points where the glass contacts the frame. This prevents direct stress on the glass corners and reduces the risk of damage from external impacts.
Sealant Selection: Use only neutral elastic sealant. Direct contact with acidic adhesives is strictly prohibited to prevent corrosion of the interlayer, which could lead to delamination.
Base Leveling: For installations such as shower enclosures, ensure the bottom surface of the door frame is level. Control the vertical flatness deviation of the wall surface to within 40mm to prevent uneven stress on the glass.
