Key Parameters to Consider When Purchasing Insulated Glass

Basic Structural Parameters
‌Product Labeling‌: Must clearly specify the glass structure, sealing method (GT: rigid / RT: flexible), Low-E coating position, and gas type to prevent the coating from being installed facing the wrong way, which would compromise energy-saving performance.
‌Glass Substrate Parameters‌: Prioritize float glass with a light transmission rate of ≥88% and avoid glass made from recycled materials containing impurities; for high-rise applications, heat-soaked tempered glass is recommended to keep the spontaneous breakage rate below 0.01%.
‌Insulating Air Space Thickness‌: Standard options include 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm; when combined with argon gas filling, a 12mm air space offers superior thermal and acoustic insulation performance.

Sealing Performance Parameters
‌Edge Seal Dimensions‌: For rigid spacers, the width of the inner butyl sealant bead must be ≥3mm; for flexible spacers, it must be ≥4.5mm. For high-rise buildings, the depth of the outer sealant bead must be ≥10mm.
‌Sealant Water Vapor Transmission Rate‌: The water vapor transmission rate of the outer sealant must be ≤15g/(m²·d); avoid inferior sealants containing white oil to prevent future fogging or seal failure.
‌Dew Point Performance‌: The baseline requirement is a dew point of ≤-40°C to ensure no internal frost or fogging occurs in low-temperature environments.
